A small monthly charge is easy to forget. Several forgotten charges can take a real bite out of your budget. Give your subscriptions a quick check-in.
Make one complete list
Review bank and credit card statements, app-store subscriptions, and payment accounts. Look back far enough to catch annual renewals as well as monthly ones.
Write down the service, cost, renewal date, and how to cancel it. Include streaming, apps, memberships, software, and delivery plans.
Decide what you actually use
For each service, ask when you last used it and whether it still fits your budget. Check for duplicate services in your household.
Cancel unused plans or switch to a lower-cost tier that meets your needs. Before choosing an annual plan, check its cancellation terms and whether you will use it for the full year.
Finish the cancellation
Deleting an app usually does not cancel its subscription. Follow the service's cancellation steps and save the confirmation. Check your next statement to make sure billing stopped.
Set a calendar reminder before any trial or discounted rate ends. If a charge continues after cancellation, contact the company and your payment provider.
